P!nk officially has another top ten hit with her latest single release, "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)", the first offering off her upcoming album,
The Truth About Love. In my official single review, I wrote the song was not the greatest creation from the singer, but the track has slowly played a bigger role in my life. It is always on repeat. Even though the singer is in a happy place in her life right now, welcoming a new child into her life and being with her husband Carey, she still knows how to find enough angst to write the perfect revenge, break up song. This week, the artist released the music video accompanying the song and it is a sight to see. Filmed in black and white, the ending is the real treat.
The video starts off with opening credits, a trend we are starting to see in many artists' visual pieces. After leaving her "boyfriend" alone at a picnic for picking up a call from someone else, in her rebellious attitude, P!nk throws her dark red glass of wine in his face and gets up to leave. After stripping some clothing off, she attracts the eye of a sexier male and rides off with him. A drawing scene takes place and then the songstress is involved with another female. Her man comes down, where she thinks he is proposing to her. To her betrayal, he proposes to the woman she was just dancing with. The best part of the video is the ending wedding scene. P!nk knows how to get her revenge and I love all the vibrate red.
I enjoyed the entire video, especially the outfit the artist wears at the end. I would do anything for that mask. My one small problem is at times it is actually hard to see what is going on. Filming the video all in black and white causes glare in some of the scenes. P!nk looks gorgeous throughout, as she always does, and I admire the tragic story line that has a bittersweet ending. It is far from the artist's best visual creation, that goes to "Please Don't Leave Me", but it certainly does the job at entertaining the viewer. P!nk's hard exterior is the highlight. She shows that you really don't want to screw her over!
My favorite all-male group has made its triumphant return to the music scene. After lead singer Brandon Flowers set off on a solo career, The Killers have come back with a brand new single, "Runaways", off their upcoming fourth studio album,
Battle Born, out in September. The song is a fantastic return for the group. It may not be as great or innovative as anything from their debut record, but the track takes the band back to the sound their toyed with on their sophomore effort and is better than anything off their last release which did not please me as I had hoped. "Runaways" feature the sultry, sexy vocals of Flowers and great musicianship from the rest of the group. The song is slowly moving up the charts and should be a big hit. This is great music.
The music video was also released this week, along with five others, and is quite simple when compared to the rest of the band's past visuals. The video starts off with a glimpse at the beautiful night skies. We then finally get to see Flowers' gorgeous face, a feature I could look at for hours and hours. Good thing most of the video is close ups on the band performing the song. There is no real story line featured here, just the four members doing what they do best. Occasional scenes of the Las Vegas nightlife and a eerie highway are shown and then the stage where The Killers are performing gets split into four just before the song ends and they all disappear.
"Runaways" is a nice effort. The music video does a great job at taking the band back to their perfect roots. To me, the track sounds like a demo from
Sam's Town, while the video features a concept that was present on their videos from their last effort's singles. I enjoy simple videos if they are done right. Not every song needs a complicated video with a long story line to gets its message across. The music video shows the members of the band with their instruments and Flowers looking stylish and better than ever. The visuals are a bonus, but I could have done without them. Just enjoy the music!
Scissor Sisters have released one of my favorite albums of the year so far. One track on
Magic Hour, "Let's Have a Kiki" had me laughing due to the hilarious spoken word intro. I did not think the song would ever be released as a single, in fact it is far from the best cut off the effort, but that idea may have just changed. The track is being hailed as a new gay anthem, a viral video featuring many pop culture scenes became a big hit, and now the group responsible for the addictive track have just released an instructional video telling fans exactly what a "kiki" is and how to act when you are present at one. The small visual is not the official music video, at least I do not think it is, but it certainly was a pleasure to watch. Do you want to have a kiki?
The video starts off with the female lead of the group acting out the intro that I just can never get enough of. Seriously I can listen to it all day. The rest of the instructional video is pretty simple. While the lyrics move across the bottom of the screen, the group is performing a fierce and flawless dance routine. The creation comes after a viral video featuring the song hit the web and had everyone talking. This visual seemed to be made for fun and to teach the world what a kiki really is. I enjoy this group so much and will watch anything they release. "Let's Have a Kiki" is a carefree track aimed at the gay culture. So gays unite and support this track. You never know when you will have a kiki!
