Police and protesters faced off as trucks and forklift drivers arrived with concrete blocks and began installing concrete barricades in the streets early today.
Ardern told Morning Report while she didn't always understand or agree with every decision the police made, they would always have her support. I fully support the police. I won't always agree with every decision but they have my support.
She said the disruption caused by the protest had been "extraordinary" and told those in attendance their point had been made and it was time for them to go home. The protesters have had their say, it is time they go home and now obviously the police are taking action. RNZ-news

Mum's bid to have son removed from 'anti-vax' dad rejected by judge, who says 12-year-old able to make up his own mind
Marty Sharpe 10:27, Feb 21 2022 A mother’s bid to have her 12-year-old son removed from his anti-vax father has been rejected by a judge, who said what she was asking was the sort of thing “that could be expected in a totalitarian or communist regime”.
The mother and father, who have shared custody of the boy, appeared before Judge Stephen Coyle in the Family Court at Whakatāne in December. The mother was applying for an order to have the boy placed in her interim care until he received his two Covid-19 vaccinations.
She also sought orders barring the father from discussing anti-vaccination views around the boy. The mother’s lawyer said it would be “psychologically unsafe to have the boy exposed to an anti-vaccination world view”.The boy had, through his own lawyer and in discussion with the judge in chambers. Teeks to anti-mandate protestors: 'You're sharing common interests with fascists and white supremacists
21/02/2022...Singer-songwriter Teeks has vented his frustrations about the messaging being platformed at the anti-mandate protests in Wellington, pointing out to participants that regardless of their intentions they're fraternising with "fascists and white supremacists".
The 'First Time' hitmaker took to Twitter to share his message, writing: "Respectfully, I don't give a f**k what anyone's intentions are being at that protest. If you're sharing common interests with fascists and white supremacists while professing 'freedom' you got some serious thinking to do."
Police and protestors continue to face off outside parliament as the occupation enters its 14th day, all while the Omicron variant of COVID-19 surges around New Zealand, pushing the country's daily new cases of the virus into the thousands." Click here News-hub

Helping vulnerable Kiwis put dinner on the table major priority for national supermarket
18/02/2022 Sponsored by - Foodstuffs...With the cost of living skyrocketing around the world, once all the bills are paid, Kiwis are becoming increasingly concerned about having the funds left to get a decent dinner on the table. The Foodstuffs’ co-operatives behind NZ’s PAK’nSAVE, New World and Four Square stores are taking the stance that accessing healthy affordable food should never be a privilege for New Zealanders.
The food price index, released by StatsNZ earlier this month, shows food prices grew by 2.7 percent in January. Of course, a major perpetrator is the COVID-19 pandemic, which has meant two years of sporadic lockdowns and level changes for Kiwis, while on a global scale has led to holes in supply chains, labour shortages and rises in the prices of fuel, transport,
But outlier events can also be blamed - inclement weather events around the country in the last few months have led to the eyebrow-raising cost of iceberg lettuce for example. Click here News-hub

Amazon Style: E-commerce giant to open first fashion storefront at US mall
Megan Sauer 13:23, Feb 21 2022 Amazon is turning one of its virtual entities into a reality – once again. In January, the e-commerce giant announced plans to launch a 30,000-square-foot brick-and-mortar fashion storefront called Amazon Style sometime in 2022. It'll be located in The Americana at Brand mall in Los Angeles next to traditional retail brands like Nordstrom, J. Crew, Urban Outfitters and H&M.
This isn't Amazon's first venture into brick-and-mortar spaces: It also owns and operates convenience store chain Amazon Go, Amazon 4-star, bookstore chain Amazon Books and Whole Foods Market.
According to the company, the Amazon Style floor will only feature one of each product for sale – much like a typical shoe store. Customers will scan an item's QR code in an accompanying app to request different sizes or colours, which they can then pick up at a counter or in a fitting room that's also equipped with touchscreens. Drop in infant formula sales hits A2 Milk's bottom line
21/02/2022..Specialty dairy company A2 Milk's bottom line has been halved, as it continues to face significant disruption to its infant formula sales in China. The company's six-month results for the first time included earnings from milk processor Mataura Valley Milk (MVM), which added $38.6m in revenue but ran at a loss of $10m due to lower volumes.
A2 Milk chief executive David Bortolussi said despite challenging market conditions in China and volatility caused by the pandemic, it was making good progress to stabilise the business. The past six months was the first time earnings from milk processor Mataura Valley Milk (MVM) had been included in A2's financial reporting. MVM added $38.6m in revenue but ran at a loss of $10m due to lower volumes.
The major hit to the company's finances over the past 18 months have come from a drop in sales of infant formula to Chinese students, tourists and unofficial buyers through the "daigou channel", and e-commerce sales through third parties to China, because of pandemic related disruptions. Conflated likely to miss the Gold Cup at Cheltenham Festival 2022
David Yates 21/02/2022... Michael O'Leary is “leaning towards” the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham with Irish Gold Cup winner Conflated. The Gordon Elliott-trained eight-year-old can be backed at 10-1 for both the Ryanair Chase and the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup after his 18-1 victory in the three-mile Grade 1 at Leopardstown 15 days ago.
But concerns over Conflated’s stamina for the extended three-mile, two-furlong Gold Cup trip could see the son of Yeats take in Thursday’s Ryanair Chase over an extended two and a half miles – the race sponsored by his owner .
I would be leaning towards the Ryanair,” said O’Leary’s brother and racing manager Eddie. It looked like he would stay all day at Leopardstown, but there is a big difference between three miles at Leopardstown and three miles two and a half at Cheltenham.Click here Mirror

Countdown ridiculed for canned spaghetti pricing blunder
Lana Andelane 21/02/2022..A pricing faux pas at a Wellington supermarket has been widely criticised on social media after a bemused customer spotted a discounted product that appeared to be cheaper at full-price.
The woman shared a photo of the blunder to Vic Deals - a popular Facebook community for Wellingtonians - early on Monday morning, captioning the snap: "Countdown at its finest. The photo shows a can of Wattie's Spaghetti with Sausages on the shelf, with a sticker indicating the product is currently on special for $3.90 with a Countdown Onecard.

Ukraine-Russia crisis: What to know amid a push for a summit
Via AP news wire 22/02/2022...World leaders are making another diplomatic push in hopes of preventing a Russian invasion of Ukraine, even as heavy shelling continues in Ukraine's east. Heavy shelling has increased in recent days along the tense line of contact between Ukrainian forces and Russian-backed separatist rebels in Ukraine’s eastern industrial heartland of Donbas.
It's a war that began in 2014 after Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine. The fighting has claimed at least 14,000 lives but had been largely quiet for long spans of time.
Ukrainian military spokesman Pavlo Kovalchyuk said Ukrainian positions were shelled 80 times Sunday and eight times early Monday, noting that the separatists were “cynically firing from residential areas using civilians as shields. He insisted that Ukrainian forces weren’t returning fire. click here Independent
