Following Monday's 115-104 preseason win over the Brooklyn Nets, the 76ers are looking to take on the Detroit Pistons for their last preseason game.
The game will be played at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, and the 76ers will be looking to get that last preseason win before their official season starts on Wednesday the 20th.
Considering the 76ers sat atop the Eastern Conference for the 20-21 season, even if only by 1 game, it will be interesting to see how they hold up this year.
With all that is currently going on in the NBA with Covid restrictions and trade requests, I have a feeling some teams are in for a very long season!
The Brooklyn Nets are having to deal with Kyrie Irving being unvaccinated, which I am sure is a struggle no team wants to deal with. However, the Philadelphia 76ers are not without their own dramas, as Ben Simmons has put in for a trade request. Simmons signed a $170 million maximum contract extension in July 2019. This was a five-year deal, and the fact that Simmons is putting in for a trade after only one year has raised some eyebrows within the league. Considering the 76ers were the top seed in the Eastern Conference last year, it has many labeling this as a new 'trick of the trade.' Should Philadelphia be worried over their Simmons situation, and will they still remain as strong of a team if he leaves? Well, only time will tell, but at the moment, it's not looking like a good start to the season for them.
One thing is for sure, and that is that sports bettors across the world will be keeping a close eye on the NBA futures odds. With so many uncertainties in the league, especially within the Eastern Conference, many will be keeping tabs on the league in any way possible to help them earn some extra money. While I am all for a good bet, the extent of my betting normally comes from being in a bar and putting a few bucks on whichever team I feel like will win. I am definitely not a professional bettor, but everyone likes to have a bit of fun from time to time. Professional sports betting, like any other profession, should really be left to those who know what they are doing as it can quickly become an addiction, especially after a couple of wins.
While the whole Ben Simmons drama will no doubt have an impact on the Sixers season ahead, they are finding success in other areas. Recently Embiid had to miss a game, and Andre Drummond took his place. While many had written Drummond off, he proved he still has more left to give to his team and could be an amazing backup for Embiid for the season. The Sixers also still have a pretty impressive roster, even if Simmons goes elsewhere. With players like Seth Curry, Danny Green, Tobias Harris, and more, the Sixers will still look to make a good run during the regular season. The sooner they can settle their Simmons drama and continue to move forward, the better off they will be; I think we can all agree on that.
Could the Sixers even look to one of their former MVP players and offer them a job?

Allen Iverson has been quoted saying, "I've been retired 11 years, I don't know how I'm not a part of that staff." Could adding AI to the staff in some way be "The Answer" that the Sixers are looking for? I mean, there really is only one way to find out, and that is to give him a job and see if he can help push the players to Championship status.
While things are still up in the air for the Sixers, there's one thing that is certain; they need to sort things out as soon as possible. Whether they let Simmons go, bring Iverson in or continue to put their faith in the players they have, they will need to decide soon so they can move forward together.
At the time of writing this, the Pre-season has seen the Sixers win 2 of their first 3 games. Both wins were in front of their home crowd as well, so things aren't looking as bad as they could. The Sixers definitely have a chance to get the Regular Season started off on the right foot, and hopefully, they will.
A bit of healthy competition is always good for everyone, and we want to see the Sixers at their best and really trying to make a run for the Championship.
They have the skill and talent, they just need to sort out some of the internal dramas, and hopefully, all will be well.
